I don’t remember where, but I read an article the other day on how to use a workaround with Gmail to get Hotmail on my iPhone. I played around with it, but it seems that you need a paid Hotmail email account to utilize this method.

While I dont use Hotmail that much, I do every now and then get an important email from that account. So I set about finding a way to do it…

What I found was this neat little site.

First REGISTER with the site, (there is no need to opt for the premium service by the way), and then follow the instructions on the above page to set up your iphone account. Make sure you turn off SSL Security in the Avanced settings on the phone. I also found that it was necessary to set my outbound server settings to:

out.izymail.com:587

Now I am able to send and receive Hotmail messages completely transparently. Cool stuff.
